I’m turning 35 next month, I have polycystic ovary syndrome (also called: PCOS) and I don’t regularly ovulate. In the past, if I’m not on some type of hormonal birth control, I’d be surprised if I got my period.
Last April (April 2022) I stopped using birth control. The Ring was the last thing that worked for me. Well, I removed the ring and I bleed at the same time for 8 months! That’s right I thought I was getting my period regularly. November 20th 2022 was the last time I had an expected period. By Christmas I was feeling awful, I took a test praying for a Christmas miracle. Test was negative. New years eve still no period, so I retested, still negative…….maybe I need to call my gyno?
If it weren’t for those 8 months, being 4 weeks late wouldn’t have been anything.
Ma called my gynecologist on January 16th, made me an appointment on the 17th.
On the 17th I wake up with my period, we still went to the doctor, I informed her about the 8 months of a regular period…. the doctor informed us that my “periods” most likely were not true periods, and I was most likely just shedding and not ovulating, then she asked if we’re trying to convince. I told her we’ve been actively for four months. Her reply was: it’s time I see an endocrinologist and gave us information on different fertility centers.
My insurance doesn’t cover fertility centers, so I found a endocrinologist who specializes in PCOS and decided that would be a good starting place. Let’s see get this showrolling. We (we, I’m bringing Dom and ma) have an appointment Friday morning at 8:30.
Stay tuned for fertility updates .
