Survivor gonna survive

Dr. Freeland was able to perform my cholecystectomy laparoscopicly. AND I had the best nurse. She tried talking with me when i was in recovery and was having a hard time understanding me, so I gestured I’ll write it for you, so she brought me a clipboard with a piece of paper and pen, by the time ma was allowed back I had my own stand up routine going and the nurse really got a Nina experience.

More details to come, I need to rest. Just know everything went well and you want to have an outpatient procedure done at Dr. Phillips Hospital

I woke up feeling empty and confused. I automatically look down my gown, checking for bandages. My nurse Shalandra walks into my room to find me looking up with a big ass smile. I try to verbally ask her how everything went cause I feel great. She didn’t understand me.

This was when I did the I’ll write it gesture.

‘Was he able to remove it laparoscopicly? Am I fixed.’ Were the first things I wrote . She tells me doc got it. I wrote something about wanting a Whopper with cheese (I’m not ordanarly into beef), and I told her how nervous I was that I’d have too much scare tissue. She made a comment about how anyone could label me as hostile, to which I tolld her I have a slight temper, and that recovery team was uneducated me to believe they were unable to care for me, they wanted me to stand on a freshly fused ankle ‘oh he’ll no, isn’t it non weight bearing for 8 weeks after that surgery? See, they were bat shit crazy trying to get me to360° transfer on freshly fused ankles, I’m not hostile’ innocent smile.

New page, honestly, I’m not sure in what order my routine went in. Shit I could have this whole thing mixed up. I just have what I wrote….one page was shit talking and story telling the other page was shit talking about why my body hates me and having to pee.

Y’all won’t believe this. 2 days before my surgery doesn’t Aunt Flow decided Nina needs me. Fml, I know. It had been nearly 3 months since my last period/bleed. (I have pcos) This got a laugh. On the same page, I wrote my mother’s name, Rita. I’m assuming it was time to go to post-op. This was where ma was allowed back.

When I was in recovery, Dr Freeland talked with ma in an exam room to tell her how everything went. This caused flashbacks to the night of the car accident I was in when I was 18. When my parents were pulled into an exam room to be told how bad I was and probably wouldn’t make it.

I can just imagine ma’s relief when Shalandra went to get her, and my status update was: she woke up smiling and telling jokes. ☺️
