So, it’s been a week since Dom and I’ve survived our first FAMILY trip.
The first weekend of August ’26 we (Dom and I) went to Georgia to party with pops sides of the family for grandpa Jon’s 90th birthday and reunite.
‘Member we were renting a Mercedes Sprinter van and driving up? Well it was 6 of us: my dad drove, ma rode shotgun, then Dom and I sat in the first row, then C (sister) and her bf in the second row, then party supplies and luggage.
I had all rights to be nervous. I was (in Dom’s words) “fighting’ for my life” the first time I attempted to climb in.
We didn’t review how I was going to get in the van, not like that would have made a difference, Dom is basically the only person who helps me do things how we reviewed, that’s why we operate so well together…
If everyone worked with me, I would have been able to get in there……but noooo the guys decided it would be “easier” to do a threeman chair left to get me in. To get out I just jumped…..all I needed was someone to spot me.
I only needed 3 stops….we made 4 on the way up.
Ma had a temporary crown, as we were pulling away from my neighborhood doesn’t it break off! So, ma needed to stop for an emergency dentist appointment. I figured I better pee one last time before we hit the highway.
When Dom and I returned to the car was when Dane (C’s man) and dad informed Dom and I how they planned on getting me in the car….
And we were off, after that stop I needed 3 more than we made it to our temporary home.

This place could have been a cult compound. It slept like 20. The room we slept in had two beds, we were roomies with my parents in the only bedroom downstairs with a connected bathroom. It had two gueen sized beds and a bathroom with a standing shower…. the shower head wasn’t hand held…… and the toilet was in the corner, it made transferring slightly complicated…. I had a nasty ass bruise from a hard landing.

Oh and about the party…..it was great seeing gramps and his friends, all of them knew about me and my TBI situation and had been praying, so you should know I had a bunch of people to hug and thank.
Some pictures……
